Mary Iannonne is the teacher in the Three Year Old classroom. Teacher Mary started her career as a Kindergarten teacher after receiving an AA in early Childhood Education and a BS in Elementary Education. After teaching Kindergarten in New Jersey and California for 4 years, she took some time off to raise children. Thirty years ago she started teaching preschool in Hinsdale, Illinois followed by preschools in Downers Grove, IL, Madison, Wisconsin, Wilton, CT, Guangzhou, China and Chicago. She believes that preschool should be an enjoyable experience, where learning is fun, gained through play, creativity, and music, ensuring that each child looks forward to their time in school.
Denise Chisner is the teacher in the Two Year Old classroom. She is originally from Ohio where she earned her Early Childhood Degree in Education. Denise has three children- 2 in college and one in high school. Denise has taught in various schools throughout savannah and recently started a PK Program for the West Broad YMCA. Denise enjoys tennis, running, biking and boating. In November she will tackle the Rock n Roll half marathon. Denise is thrilled to be the new two year old teacher.
Jill Armentrout is the teacher in the One Year Old classroom. Jill was born and raised in St. Louis, Missouri; there she attended grade school and High school. She then moved to Illinois, where she graduated from Quincy University with a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with an Emphasis in Language Arts. In 2008, she moved to Savannah with her husband Ernest. They have since had two children, Isabella (3) and Ernie (1). Throughout her time in Savannah she has been actively teaching her children, participating in music classes, story time at the Libraries, Me and Mommy groups, many other activities within the community.
Amy Livingston is the teaching assistant in the Three Year Old classroom. Amy attended Georgia Southern University where she received her Bachelors of Science in Kinesiology in 2010. Amy is currently working on her Master of Arts in Teaching in Early Childhood Education at Armstrong Atlantic State University. She has a passion for working with young children and love watching as they grow and learn.
Sherry Liney is the teaching assistant in the Two Year Old classroom. Sherry Liney moved to Savannah one year ago from New York. She has worked for seven years at Easter Seals prior to moving. She believes working with children is very rewarding. She loves to watch children grow, learn and explore new things. She is married to Mike Liney who is still in New York working. Sherry is hoping to have him here in Savannah in January. They have 3 boys who attend St. James and love the new friends they have made. She is looking forward to a fun and exciting year with your children.
Michelle Jarrell is the teaching assistant in the One Year Old classroom. Michelle received her BA in Communications from USC in Spartanburg, SC and her BA and Master of Music in voice performance from Converse College. She brings to the classroom experience as a music educator and professional performer. Michelle moved to Savannah from North Carolina where she worked as a musician and teacher for 5 years. While teaching music at the USC in Lancaster, she also served as the administrator of a large preschool and daycare in Charlotte, NC. As a soloist, she has appeared with groups including the Converse Symphony, the Spartanburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Oratorio Singers of the Charlotte Symphony, Opera Carolina, and most recently, The Savannah Philharmonic Orchestra. She is active in the Savannah music scene and looks forward to bringing her love of children and music to the classroom. She is enjoying coastal living with her two gorgeous boys, Camden (4) and Cavan (3).
Maria Rogers is the Director at Skidaway Island Preschool. Maria has been working at the preschool as a lead teacher in both the Three Year Old and Pre-K classrooms since 2007. She was named Director in 2011. She has a BA in Speech Communication and over 12 years working with pre-school age children. Maria continues her own professional growth through on-going conferences and workshops each year. Watching the children learn through play and discovery is the best part of her day. Her work is regularly inspired by the talented teachers she feel privileged to work with, and the wonderful families who continue to expand her circle of friends.
